Baptism Preparation |
| |
|
Baptism classes are held on the second Saturday of the month typically from 9:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at the parish center. It is recommended that the expectant couple attends classes before the child is born to make scheduling the child’s baptism easier.
Please contact Diane Boni at the parish office to register for the class at 402- 916-9730. |

First Reconciliation & First Holy Eucharist Preparation |
| |
|
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8 |
| |
|
Students receive special, intense preparation for Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. This is done in cooperation with the parent/guardian. Students in 2nd Grade ordinarily receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist for the first time. To receive these sacraments a student must have attended 1 year of a Catholic religious formation program. Meetings and retreats are scheduled during the year so that parents may review the content of preparation, deepen their own understanding of the sacrament being received, and help prepare their children for receiving these sacraments. Please see the Religious Formation Sacrament Calendar for dates and times of these meetings. Students will receive the sacraments only if they are adequately prepared.
All candidates for sacraments (Reconciliation and/or Holy Eucharist) must provide a copy of their baptism certificate to the Religious Formation office by October 1st. Baptism certificates may be faxed directly to our office at 402-916-9740 by the parish where your child was baptized.
If a child in the third grade or above has not received Baptism, Reconciliation, or Eucharist please contact the Religious Formation office at 402-916-9750. We will work together to set up a sacrament plan for your child with special preparation for the sacraments. |

Confirmation Preparation |
| |
|
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in
Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8 |
 |
 |
The Sacrament of Confirmation continues the work begun at Baptism by bringing an increase and deepening of baptismal grace to our lives. In this Sacrament, we become more perfectly united to the Church and receive special grace from the Holy Spirit, which enables us to better live out our Faith as true witnesses of Christ’s love and presence. St. Charles Borromeo’s Confirmation Preparation program is designed to draw students into a deeper communion with Christ and the Church as they prepare to receive this Sacrament.
In accordance with the Omaha Archdiocesan requirements, St. Charles Borromeo offers a two-year preparation program for the Sacrament of Confirmation. At our parish, this typically takes place during the 7th and 8th grade years, though some older students who have not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation also may participate in this preparation program.
The first year of Confirmation Preparation takes students through a Scriptural overview of our history as people of God. It begins with the creation accounts and looks briefly at the Old Testament prophesies in its discussion of God’s plan for our salvation. Much of the year is spent studying the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Students are invited to walk alongside Jesus and to enter more deeply into relationship with Him. The year concludes with a brief examination of the Church that Jesus founded and our role in this Church.
The second year of Confirmation Preparation invites students to consider what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ and how their lives should reflect their faith. Thus, the first half of the year focuses on Christian morality and the Ten Commandments. During the second half of the year, students will deepen their understanding of the Sacraments, especially the Sacrament of Confirmation. They will examine the meaning of everything that will happen during the Confirmation ceremony and will consider what new responsibilities God is giving them as confirmed Catholics.
Confirmation preparation classes are held on Wednesday nights at St. Charles Borromeo. Additionally, students preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation should complete at least four stewardship and community service projects and reflections each year and must attend a yearly retreat. Service and Stewardship Reflection forms are available on the St. Charles Borromeo website and should be turned in to the parish office.
